Rust is not decay, but time made visible upon a structure.

Studio Rust is a contemporary architecture and interior design practice in Gurugram. Founded by Sourish Rao and Nupur Sahay, it works across residential, hospitality, and commercial projects — designing spaces that resist novelty and earn relevance over time.

The name references rust not as deterioration, but as transformation — a belief that the best spaces don’t peak on day one. They absorb life, gain character, and still feel right over time.

The studio began with two projects — a home in Delhi and a small hotel in Udaipur — and no infrastructure, just conviction. Those commissions led to conversations, building a practice largely on referral. No campaigns. Just the work.

Today, the studio operates on a single standard: every project gets everything.

Nupur's understanding of design did not begin with buildings. It began with people — how they inhabit space, what they carry into a room, and what lingers after they leave.

She leads the conceptual direction of every project, shaping ideas from the first conversation through to material mood and spatial experience. Her process is built on close client dialogue, and a sensitivity to what people want but don't always know how to ask for.

For Nupur, architecture is not a statement. It is a feeling — one that deepens with use, not fades.

Sourish brings structure to instinct. His focus is on how things come together — not just visually, but physically. How a detail will be executed. How a material will perform. How a space will hold its integrity years from now.

He manages the complexity behind the outcome: contractors, timelines, on-site decisions, the thousand variables that determine whether a design survives contact with reality.

At this scale, design without discipline becomes expensive. Sourish ensures it doesn't.

Most spaces look considered on the day they're completed. Studio Rust designs for the years that follow.

The practice is grounded in a restrained definition of luxury — one where functionality leads, and refinement follows. Elegance is not achieved through accumulation. It is achieved through proportion, material intelligence, and detailing that earns attention quietly rather than demanding it.

Materials that age well. Layouts that continue to work as life evolves. Details that don't demand attention, but earn it over time. Real luxury is not how much you add. It's how much you get right.
